Every person’s experience is different

When two people face similar challenges, their experiences, relationships and ways of making sense of the world are unique.

As well as trying to understand the challenges you're facing, I'd like to understand you. Your experiences, relationships, values and the things that matter most to you all provide important context. We'll take time to explore your experiences together and discover what can help you move forwards in a way that feels right for you.

Integrative counselling

Integrative counselling brings together ideas from different therapeutic approaches rather than following one fixed model. This flexibility allows me to adapt our work together to reflect your individual needs and experiences, recognising that there is no single approach that's right for everyone.

My training draws on person-centred, psychodynamic, cognitive behavioural (CBT) and Gestalt approaches, giving me a broad foundation from which to support our work together.

My role

My role is to work with you in a way that helps you understand the challenge you are facing and find a way forwards that feels healthier for you.

Sometimes that might mean gently noticing patterns, exploring beliefs that feel limiting, or helping you untangle thoughts and emotions that have become difficult to hold alone. At other times, it may mean slowing down and making space for something painful or unclear to be understood more fully.

During our time together I will work alongside you as we make sense of your experiences together.

A collaborative relationship

I see counselling as a collaborative relationship. Together, we’ll explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences, noticing patterns, connections or ways of seeing things that may not have been clear before. My aim is to support you in developing a deeper understanding of yourself, by helping you make sense of what you are experiencing.

I'll bring my training, experience, curiosity and full attention, while recognising that you are the expert on your own life.

Curiosity before conclusions

When we're struggling, it's natural to want answers. We often look for explanations, solutions or ways to make difficult feelings disappear.

Sometimes, though, the most helpful place to begin is simply with curiosity.

Rather than rushing towards conclusions, counselling offers the opportunity to explore your thoughts, emotions and relationships with openness rather than judgement. As understanding deepens, new perspectives often emerge naturally.

I believe lasting change is more likely to grow from self-understanding than from pressure to think, feel or behave differently.

A space where you can…

My hope is that counselling will feel like somewhere you can:

  • speak openly without fear of judgement

  • feel accepted exactly as you are

  • explore difficult thoughts and emotions safely

  • develop a deeper understanding of yourself

  • recognise patterns with greater clarity

  • relate to yourself with greater compassion
