Working Together
Beginning counselling can feel like a big step, particularly if you've never spoken to a counsellor before. My hope is that, from our very first conversation, you'll feel welcomed, listened to and under no pressure to have everything figured out.
The first step is a free 20-minute introductory call. This gives us the opportunity to meet, talk about what has brought you to counselling and explore whether working together feels like a good fit. It's also your chance to ask any questions before deciding whether you'd like to begin counselling.
Our Sessions
If we decide to work together, counselling sessions last 50 minutes and are available in person, online or by telephone.
In person sessions take place in Winchester, Hampshire, in a private and comfortable counselling room. Online sessions are held via a secure video platform, allowing you to access counselling from wherever you feel most comfortable.
Most appointments take place during the day, with a limited number of evening appointments available to accommodate work and other commitments.
There is no expectation for you to know exactly what you want to talk about. Some people arrive with a very clear focus, while others simply know that something doesn't feel quite right. Part of my role is to help you gently untangle things as we go, so you don’t need to arrive with everything already clear or organised.
How Often Will We Meet?
Most people begin with weekly sessions, as meeting regularly provides continuity and allows our therapeutic relationship to develop over time. Having that consistency often creates the space to explore your experiences in greater depth, rather than feeling like you're starting again each time you come.
As counselling progresses, we'll regularly review how you're finding the process and whether the frequency of sessions continues to meet your needs.
There is no fixed number of sessions. Some people find that short-term counselling is enough, while others benefit from working together over a longer period. We'll review this together as we go.

Our Counselling Agreement
If we decide to work together, we'll take some time before our first session to go through our counselling agreement.
This outlines the practical aspects of our work together, including confidentiality, session times, payment, cancellations and other important information that helps create a safe, clear and consistent framework for counselling.
We'll talk through the agreement together before we begin, giving you the opportunity to ask any questions and ensuring you feel comfortable with how we'll work together.
